Papergirl comes to Cool Arts

"Papergirl" Sarah Parsons shares her storybook illustrations with Cool Arts
Something very exciting is happening on October 15th at the Rotary Centre for the Arts. What do you get when you combine creativity with random acts of kindness??? You get "Papergirl" a global event that is seeing its second year in Kelowna. Papergirl spokeswoman Sarah Parsons has brought this event from to Kelowna from Germany where it all began. Creatively inspired individuals create works that will go on display at the Rotary Centre, and then are randomly delivered to individuals throughout the community. To learn more about how you can get involved go to Papergirl Kelowna via  http://papergirlkelowna.blogspot.com/

Thank you Sarah for making this wonderful video featuring Cool Arts artists and their storybook illustrations.

Life Drawing at the Ballet

In late winter, Alison Moore invited Cool Arts to attend the rehearsals at Ballet Kelowna and the Canadian School of Ballet for the purpose of Life Drawing. Artists participated in 2-3 Life Drawing sessions then applied this practice to these large-scale collaborative works on canvas. Instructors Rena Warren, Anjy Bonten and Shauna Oddleifson facilitated these workshops. The works are currently on display at the Kelowna Community Theatre.

Cool Arts artists and their beeboxes

Today was the perfect day, warm spring sunshine in a farm yard smelling of fresh hay and pennycress. Cool Arts artists bravely ventured into the world of bees, donning suits for protection and carefully hand delivering painted bee boxes; new homes for the honey bees.

The timing of the deliver was most fitting as May 29th marks the official 'Day of the Honeybee".

Cool Arts artists learn that honeybees are not aggressive and that by moving slowly and remaining calm and respectful of their environment, artists and honeybees can work together in lovely harmony.
